Kansas State Fair schedules livestock shows, general manager resigns

The Kansas State Fair Board has decided to continue with livestock shows this year, even though the Fair itself has been canceled.

The shows will begin on September 3rd, and they will be staggered across two weeks in order to have fewer people on the state fairgrounds in Hutchinson at one time.   Young people from 4-H, FFA and other programs will be involved in the shows.

Kansas State Fair general manager Robin Jennison has submitted his resignation, saying he wanted to protect the jobs of full-time employees who work all year to make the fair an annual tradition.   Jennison said the coronavirus will continue to have a significant impact on the State Fair, and he’s hoping that his resignation will lessen the impact on other employees.  He had served as the fair’s general manager since September, 2018.

The 2021 Kansas State Fair is scheduled for September 10-19.
