By the Associated Press:
Oklahoma governor Kevin Stitt says he has tested positive for the coronavirus, making him the first governor to report testing positive.
The first-term Republican made the announcement Wednesday during a virtual news conference. Forty-eight-year-old Stitt has backed one of the country’s most aggressive reopening plans and resisted a statewide mask mandate.
Stitt attended President Donald Trump’s rally in Tulsa last month, which health experts say likely contributed to a surge in coronavirus cases there. Stitt says he’s confident he didn’t catch the virus at the rally, which took place nearly a month ago. He started feeling symptoms on Tuesday.
