After a COVID-19 cluster was tied to a Diversicare facility in Haysville, there was concern an employee may have spread the virus to a Diversicare in Sedgwick.
All staff and residents at the Sedgwick location were tested and no new COVID-19 cases were found.
“We wanted to take this proactive step in testing to ensure that our residents and employees remain safe and healthy,” said Diversicare of Sedgwick Director of Care Coordination Justin Harland. “Having no additional COVID-19 cases identified in the testing is welcomed news. We have and will continue to take precautions to provide a safe environment for our staff team members and residents.”
“We appreciate the partnerships and support our long-term care facilities have given us as we try to reduce the spread of COVID-19,” said Harvey County Health Department Director Lynnette Redington. “We know COVID-19 has not gone away. It continues to be important that we all do our part to keep our family, friends and our communities healthy.”
Harvey County’s overall case count remains fairly low, with only 16 cases in total. Most patients have recovered and only one active case is known about at this time.
