Wichita’s municipal court to reopen Tuesday

Wichita’s municipal court system will be back in operation this week with new court dates for all pending cases.

Court administrator Nathan Emmorey says social distancing procedures will be followed in court hearings and everyone will be required to wear a mask.  Defendants will not be allowed to bring a guest with them because of the social distancing requirements.

People can find out about their cases by going to the web site www.wichita.gov/court

Emmorey says walk-in dockets are being expanded for people who want to take care of warrants.   There will be three slots per day and ten people in each slot for the next week and a half.   People can call the court at 316-268-4611 to get a slot.

People on probation with municipal court will be contacted by a probation officer to schedule a virtual meeting through Microsoft Teams.   If someone doesn’t have the technology for the virtual meeting, they can go to the office and access a virtual reporting station.

The court will have its customer service windows open so people can pay fines and costs with cash.  People are encouraged to use phone or internet systems to pay by credit card.
