Restaurants and retailers can reopen today

The statewide stay home order for Kansas is no longer in place.

Phase one of the state’s reopening plan starts today, though under the executive order tied to phase one, a lot of businesses still have to stay closed. Things like bars, clubs, theaters, gyms, ans salons cannot reopen yet. Those businesses can start to reopen in phase two or three, though specifics have not been decided yet.

Starting today though, restaurants can serve dine-in customers if they choose. Groups of diners will still need to be kept to 10 or less, and groups will need to be kept 6-feet apart, or separated by some kind of barrier.

Retail stores can also reopen if they choose, though there will likely be limits on returns and fitting rooms.

In Wichita, stores including Hobby Lobby and Goodwill are open to the public. Towne East reopened, but individual stores may still be closed. Ulta and Kohl’s are offering curbside pickup for online orders. Sephora says their stores are staying closed.

QuikTrip has reopened its drink and roller grill stations.

Phase two of the reopening plan is set to begin in two weeks, as long as there is no major spike in COVID-19 cases during this first phase.
