There are now 622 Covid-19 in Kansas.

The latest figures from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment show 85 cases in Sedgwick County.  That is an increase of 6 from Thursday.

The virus has now led to the death of 17 people in Kansas.  Johnson and Wyandotte counties make up the bulk of the cases.

Johnson County reports 171 cases, while Wyandotte has 131.   151 cases have required hospitalization.

People 55-64 account for a 20.5% majority of cases.  The youngest patient is an infant, while the oldest reported patient is 100 years old.

334 women have contracted the virus compared to 285 men, with 1 patient whose gender was not reported.

Reno County reported at 11:30 a.m. Friday of a tenth patient, a man in his 80’s who had contact with someone previously diagnosed with Covid-19.  His case was reported after the state updated their figures.

State also did not include Greenwood County, which just reported their first case Friday morning.  Meanwhile, the state received its final allocation from the national strategic stockpile from FEMA late Thursday night.

The state was able to get 90% of its allocation but was told the remaining 10% was being sent other locations.  The governor says the inventory will be finalized over the weekend and the supplies delivered to counties.

KDHE Secretary Dr. Lee Norman says the state is still struggling with supplies like swabs needed for testing, but they have received their 45-minute Cephiad rapid test kits.  The rapid test kits will allow them to start conducting population studies to have a better idea of how many people may be carrying the virus, rather than just testing individuals with symptoms.

They will also be adding the PerkinElmer test, which will allow them to perform another 700-1,000 daily tests.
