Wichita Police are investigating two separate shootings that happened within a few hours of each other.

The first was reported shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday when officers were called to the hospital on the report of a walk-in shooting victim.  Police learned that a 19-year-old man was driving in the area of Ross Parkway and Jewett in Planeview with another 19-year-old man, and a 44-year-old man when someone opened fire on the car.

The 44-year-old man was struck by a bullet, while the 19-year-old passenger had a minor injury.  Both were treated and released from the hospital.

Police say this wasn’t a random incident, but it is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.  Anyone has any information about the shooting, is urged to call detectives at 316-268-4407, Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111, or the See Something Say Something hotline at 316-267-2111.

The second incident happened around 12 a.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of South Greenwood.  Police say a man came to the front door of the home, pounded on it, and demanded to be let inside.

A 34-year-old man who lived there refused to open the door and the suspect fired through the door, hitting the man in his lower body.  He was taken to the hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The man’s 28-year-old girlfriend was also inside of the home at the time of the shooting, but she was not hurt.  Police say they believe they know who the suspect is and they are actively looking for him.
