Kansas casinos to close for the rest of the month

The Kansas Lottery has suspended the operations of the four state-owned casinos in the state through at least March 30th.

The Lottery said the decision was made after consultation with the governor’s office and the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission.   It follows Governor Laura Kelly’s order to ban public gatherings of more than 50 people in line with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control.

The decision will affect the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, the Boot Hill Casino in Dodge City, Kansas Crossing in Pittsburg and the Hollywood Casino in Kansas City.

Lottery officials said they will actively monitor the COVID-19 situation and will continue to follow government recommendations for operations and procedures.
