Ascension Via Christi announces new screening, visitation requirements

Ascension Via Christi has announced new measures for screening and visitation at its hospitals and clinics in Wichita.

The hospitals are requesting no more than one visitor per patient and no visitors under age 18.

Screening will be conducted for everyone entering the hospitals and outpatient clinics, and there will be limited entrances at each site.  Public entrances include those accessing the main lobby and the Emergency Room.

Anyone who has a fever, cough or difficulty breathing will be asked not to visit, and they can return when they are no longer symptomatic.  They will also be advised to consider a virual visit through Facebook, Skype or other online platforms.

People who are approved to visit will be asked to limit their movement within the hospital to a direct path to and from the patient’s room.

Ascension Via Christi chief medical officer Sam Antonios said the steps are being taken to protect patients and staff while still respecting the rights of patients to receive visitors.
