After 15 years away, Godsmack is returning to Wichita.

Meatball recently caught frontman Sully Erna on the phone, and they talked about the growth and change with their latest record “When Legends Rise,” and the importance of their latest single “Under Your Scars.”

“We’re not the same, young, angry kids anymore. We’re a whole different person now, we’ve grown a lot, and the music has to grow with us.” – Sully Erna

Meatball also asked Sully about the content of Rock music now – addressing more mental health. He considers rock artists “experts” on the topic because of their lifestyles, and it doesn’t surprise him that more artists are addressing the topic.

“We’re the ones, always subject to becoming manic-depressive, alcoholic, addicts. We have to live this very unique lifestyle that most people glorify. As much as we love what we do, we have to pay attention… It doesn’t surprise me that more and more artists are stepping up, and trying to bring awareness to these things.” – Sully Erna

On their upcoming live show with Halestorm:

“I think these two bands alone are just going to really bring concerts back to how they were used to be in the day, when it was two bands, live in an arena, knocking sh*t down, blowing sh*t up, and letting people go home exhausted.” – Sully Erna

Godsmack and Halestorm will be in Wichita for our 40th Anniversary Birthday Bash on September 25th. Click on the image below to get tickets.
