In the comedy world, the name Sammy Shore is a staple. Shore started the Comedy Store in L.A. where just about every major comedian has performed at some point in their careers.
Sadly, Saturday, Shore died at the age of 92. He was survived by his son, “The Weasel” Pauly Shore, who was doing a set at the Sonic Temple Spoken Word tent in Columbus, Ohio.
Sunday night, during Foo Fighters’ set at Sonic Temple, they paid special tribute to Sammy, and invited Pauly up on stage with them during “My Hero.” Shore, sporting a shirt with his father’s face on it.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Sammy Shore died of natural causes at his home in Las Vegas on Saturday. His career began as a comedian working in the “Borscht Belt” of New York’s Catskill Mountains and eventually took him to Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Shore once opened Elvis Presley’s comeback tour and he worked with many comedians and musicians.
Pauly Shore not only addressed his father’s passing, but also thanked Foo Fighters on social media for their tribute.
The crowds were very endeared to see a true father and son comedy team on stage, something that's never happened before. Those 20 years were some of the best times my dad and I ever had in our lives. I’m so happy I was able to experience them with him. pic.twitter.com/Cji2jEWfXo

Thank you Dave Grohl and @FooFighters for inviting me on-stage to honor my father Sammy Shore, who just passed the night before. Tons of people captured it, but I really dug Vegasn 2001's YouTube video. Thank you @SonicTempleFest #MyHero #DaveGrohl #Columbus #thecomedystore pic.twitter.com/NvgLsfBWWK
