So a few days ago, Volbeat gave us a new track, “Parasite.” Quite literally an ear worm that is just a shade under 40-seconds long. (Listen in Meatball’s Spotify Playlist).

If you felt kind of jipped, you weren’t alone. LOTS of people were upset. But, we’re pretty sure Volbeat knew that would happen.

Wednesday, they smoothed things over with a new song, “Leviathan,” and lined out details of their next album.

The band has just announced the details behind their seventh full length, “Rewind, Replay, Rebound” alongside a music video (watch below) for the previously mentioned song. The album, which will be the first to feature bassist Kaspar Boye Larsen, will be released on Aug. 2 through Republic Records and features 14 tracks on the standard release. A deluxe editions includes a second disc with additional songs and bonus renditions of others. Pre-order the album here.

As for “Leviathan,” it further establishes the slight stylistic change present on “Parasite.” There’s a melodic pop-punk tinge to the track, which weaves into the fabric of Volbeat’s core metal-meets-rockabilly sound.

“The whole point for us going into the studio, is because you still have something to prove — not just for the fans, but mostly for yourself,” says frontman Michael Poulsen. “We would not be able to do this record if it wasn’t for the work we have done in the past. No matter how old the band gets or how many records we do, there is always going to be that signature sound.”

Volbeat will spend the summer touring North America as part of the Knotfest Roadshow featuring Slipknot, Behemoth and Gojira. You can WIN TICKETS HERE.
