Bands like to cover Nirvana. Not that it’s easy, but it’s fun and recognizable. Usually, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is the go-to, but not for Breaking Benjamin’s bass player, Aaron Bruch. He decided to go a little deeper.
It’s one of Nirvana’s most intimate songs, “Something in the Way,” and when Kurt recorded the song, he was literally whispering, mumbling into a microphone in the production room. All fans had to be turned off, all noise was dampened… it was an incredible moment in rock recording history.
Aaron Bruch does a helluva job in a big space (a “creepy, empty pool”) with the song, ditching his bass for an acoustic guitar. Check it out below.
