So back in January, it was announced that Static-X would be co-headlining a tour with Devildriver. The immediate question being, “How the hell can Static-X tour with out Wayne Static?”
Wayne died in November of 2014 from “prescription drug toxicity,” and the future of Static-X looked like it was over. HOWEVER, the rest of the original lineup – Tony Campos, Ken Jay, and Koichi Fukada – decided they wanted to honor Wayne with one last tour.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of their debut album “Wisconsin Death Trip,” so the remaining members decided to use this as a way to cap off the Wayne Static era of Static-X, and kick off a potentially new era with Wayne’s final vocals on a new album, “Project Regeneration.” (Watch the teaser below.)

The album has seen a LOT of delays since it was announced last year, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, because just this week, new vocal recordings from Wayne were discovered, and will be featured in the album. They’re also re-recording and releasing some Static-X classic with their stand-in masked singer.
But who is standing in for Wayne on the tour? Rumors swirled for a while, but it’s likely Edsel Dope of the band “Dope,” who will also be on the tour with Devildriver.
See the band’s latest update with their “masked singer” below.
Looks like the closest this tour is coming (for now) is Dallas, TX, in June, or Denver, CO, in July. Hopefully they add some dates and some closer shows to Wichita.
