A vote on private development on land around the Lawrence Dumont site will be held Tuesday, March 19 at City Hall.
Some Wichita residents say they’re upset about a lack of transparency from the city on what’s happening at the Lawrence Dumont site.
The city council delayed a vote and pushed the meeting back to tonight so that more people can show up and let their voices be heard.
“I get the frustration of the transparency,” Wichita Mayor Jeff Longwell said earlier this month. “We’re happy to see if we can’t address all of those concerns to ensure that the public has a complete understanding of where we’re going, because there’s been too much misinformation that’s been out there.”
Under a proposed agreement, the Triple-A team moving to Wichita would purchase four acres outside the new stadium, and it would be developed for retail, restaurant and entertainment uses. The team’s owner said they’re here for the long haul, and if they weren’t interested in Wichita, construction on the new stadium wouldn’t be happening.
If you want to voice your thoughts, you’re invited to attend the public meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.
