Sheriff’s office identifies man shot and killed by a deputy

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office has identified a man who was shot and killed by a deputy Monday afternoon in south Wichita.

55-year-old  David Michael Bosiljevac died in the shooting that happened at a storage facility in the 3300 block of South Hydraulic, just north of I-135.  Deputies had received a tip that Bosiljevac, who had a felony warrant, would be at the facility.

The Sheriff’s office says when deputies arrived, Bosiljevac fled behind a car and pointed what was believed to be a handgun at the deputies.  A deputy fired his gun, striking Bosiljevac, killing him.

An air-soft pistol that closely resembles a firearm was recovered near his body.  The KBI  is investigating and the deputy has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
