Staff Member At Winfield Correctional Facililty Dies of COVID-19 Complications

Kansas Department of Corrections Secretary Jeff Zmuda announced Monday that a staff member at the Winfield Correctional Facility has died due to COVID-19 related complications. This is the first staff death related to the virus at the facility.

54 year old David Warner served more than 8 years with the KDOC. He was hired in 2010 at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility as a corrections officer. He was later promoted to pre-release instructor. He began work at the Winfield Correctional Facility in 2015.

Warner died of COVID-related complications on March 18th.

Services will be held for Warner on Wednesday, March 24th at 6:30pm at the West Kansas Avenue Church of God in Arkansas City, Kansas.
