Your thoughts on Tim Tebow?

  • Print

...Tim Tebow recently stated (while speaking on Father's Day at Qualcomm Stadium in front of over 25000 people) that professional sports does a poor job of providing good examples....he went on to say that "if we could come together and be great role models, it would be amazing to see how the next generation turns out."......I am quite sure he will catch some heat for this....and he will also gain some credible support as well....While I don't know that I totally agree with this particular synopsis, I have always been a Tim Tebow fan......Lord knows not because he is a NY Jet....and to be honest not because of his faith and beliefs.....I have nothing at all against his religious belief structure and I have nothing at all against his open display of such beliefs.....What does make me a Tim Tebow fan is simply this......he is the quintessential true competitor.....he doesn't know the meaning of the word quit and to put it bluntly....he flat out has is a big you don't see often......he compells people around him to compete above thier abilities....and you do not see that often at all....just watch how his teamates react around him.....his drive is nothing short of contagious.....he knows he doesn't have the natural skills that many other qbs are blessed with....he knows he is no Peyton Drew Brees...etc.......but what I love about Tebow is the fact that he also knows they are not him....and he brings things to the table that are extremely rare in nature.....EVERY single time he get's a shot at playing he believes beyond all get out that he will find a way to succeed....and NO ONE can tell him any different.....does he always? of course not....but that does not deter him from I agree with him on his role model statement?....yes and no....not to straddle the fence...but I see both sides of that issue....I can totally see Tebow's side of it.....and yet I also see the side of it that says athletes are not necessarily paid to be role models....yes it may be the nice thing to do...the right thing in a sense....but is it really their responsibility?....anyways thanks for stopping by!    Rick
